The opening act Chloe Charles was better than what I'd heard of her on Youtube. With her colourfully-costumed music videos it seemed like she was just a more pretentious version of Lianne La Havas but whilst performing she turned out to be pretty inventive in her style: A variety of dynamics, texture, tempo and a very powerful voice.
But on to the 'Ordinary Legend' as the just turned 72-year old man said he wanted to be known as that night. The performance was above and beyond my expectations. A frail man, he had to be helped on and off stage, but when the music started he was the youthful, socially rebellious champion everyone knows him for, whose sweet, bluesy music simply defies genre. The Latino, Bob Dylanesque Sugarman and his fantastic strumming technique will forever resonate me.
An honour to climb up on the music of such a sensitive, observant acoustic singer-songwriter at the debut of his European Tour.
